Sorprendente recopilación de relatos la que nos ofrece el libro 15 historietas de ciencia ficción oscura editado por Diábolo Ediciones, una selección de obras aparecidas en la revista Cthulhu. En términos generales hay un gran nivel en los autores seleccionados, que demuestran un excelente dominio del medio y una buena cultura del género que están abordando. Es fácil encontrar referentes a las distintas historias, sobre todo en el cine (desde Alien o Esfera a obras de culto -quizás sin pretenderlo- como Encuentros en la cuarta fase), pero estas pequeñas píldoras (en su mayoría) consiguen ofrecer algo distinto, lo que hace de este tomo un placer para los paladares más exigentes.

 

Cierto que hay de todo, entre tantas historias siempre hay algunas mejores y peores. Lo que más chirría son dos pequeños relatos de tintes cómicos: El joven Lovecraft y Science Fiction Doble Feature. Rompen con el tono del libro, que se caracteriza por mostrar relatos oscuros, bastante perversos en los que la desesperanza es la nota predominante. Tampoco ayuda el hecho de que estén muy próximas entre sí. Más alejadas, quizás, podrían haber servido como una suerte de paréntesis que rebajara la tensión que se va acumulando página a página.

 

No es una cuestión de que sean buenas o malas historietas, es simplemente que no tienen cabida en el tomo.

 

En el otro punto, entre las historias más destacadas encontramos, por ejemplo: Para Elisa, Iss o Los hombres grises, centradas mucho en sus personajes protagonistas y en crear una atmósfera inquietante. En su mayoría nos trasladan a futuros distópicos, más proclives a albergar nuestros temores y a aceptar la existencia de seres fantásticos o amenazas que sobrepasan nuestro entendimiento. Denotan, además, la buena salud (creativa) del cómic en español.
