A partir del miércoles 3 de abril, la sala de exposiciones de la Academia de Cine abre sus puertas al fotógrafo Lawrence Schiller que, según sus palabras, estuvo «en el lugar adecuado en el momento oportuno«. Sus fotografías son parte de la memoria cultural y política de la tumultuosa década de los sesenta. El fotoperiodista estadounidense retrató a las grandes figuras del star system dentro y fuera de los rodajes con una intimidad que muy pocos han logrado.

 

Realizada en colaboración con la embajada de Estados Unidos en España y Mondo Galería, la muestra Lawrence Schiller, América y los 60 incluye instantáneas de Marilyn Monroe, Tippi Hedren, Clint Eastwood, Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Robert Mitchum, Donald Sutherland, Barbra Streisand, Robert Redford, Shirley MacLaine, Buster Keaton, Bette Davis, Spencer Tracy, Walt Disney,… 30 imágenes que, por primera vez, se verán en nuestro país, de las más de 500 que visionó Diego Alonso, comisario de esta exhibición que permanecerá en la institución hasta el 24 de mayo.

 

 

Este veterano profesional que fotografió a Marilyn Monroe desnuda para Paris Match, captó la última aparición de Buster Keaton en un rodaje y el momento en que Paul Newman y Robert Redford leyeron el guion de Dos hombres y un destino. Tenía 24 años cuando empezaron los sesenta y ya llevaba seis trabajando como freelance. Su habilidad para retratar «algo único» llevó a este neoyorkino a trabajar para Life, Playboy y Paris Match, entre otros medios; a coescribir con Norman Mailer La canción del verdugo, que logró el Premio Pulitzer; y a dirigir películas y miniseries para televisión.
