En su texto de cierre, la editora DC de Panini Cómics recoge unas palabras de Scott Snyder que confirman las sensaciones que nos había dejado el primer número: esta es una historia de Superman. Sí, se trata de un evento editorial que impele a varios personajes y colecciones; pero el hombre de acero es el actor principal. Es su conflicto el que da forma a la aventura y el que busca ser explorado por sus autores.

 

«Te veré en el siguiente asalto, Superman…»

 

Más que menos, si pensáis en cualquier evento (ya sea aquí o en Marvel), por más corales que se presenten, siempre hay uno o dos personajes que llevan la voz cantante y son puestos a prueba por encima de cualquier otro actor implicado. En terrenos deceítas tenemos el caso reciente de Absolute Power, que -sacando a Amanda Waller de la ecuación- apelaba a Nightwing y sus Titanes. En Marvel, Un mundo bajo Muerte es una historia del latveriano, y Secret Wars fue una aventura sobre Los 4 Fantásticos, como Rey de Negro lo fue de Veneno. DC K.O. es, en último término, un relato en torno a Superman y sus límites.

 

Porque ¿cuánto puede resistir un faro de esperanza como Clark cuando le empujan a actuar como sus enemigos? ¿Qué está dispuesto a sacrificar por mantenerse fiel a sus principios? Estas son las preguntas que viene planteando Snyder en el arranque del evento. Para obtener el poder que les iguale a Darkseid todo está permitido. Y mientras personajes como Wonder Woman saben adaptarse -no en vano antes de heroína es una guerrera-, el kriptoniano se muestra reticente a según qué decisiones. Postura cobarde según Lex Luthor y parte de razón no le falta; pero cuando eres prácticamente un dios entre humanos, el autocontrol se convierte en un súper poder.

 

 

¿Veis el dilema? Si bien es cierto que Kal-El se ha visto en otras ocasiones en tesituras similares, en último término aquellas tendían a concretarse en una lucha de voluntades. DC K.O., al menos en estos primeros compases, no se rige por esas dinámicas. La postura estoica no es una opción. Obtener la energía omega exige actuar y tomar decisiones casi instintivas. Los Luthor, Joker o Lobo no tienen ningún tipo de miramiento ante la perspectiva de un poder tan grande. Es decir, Superman (y el resto de héroes) no lucha únicamente para derrotar la amenaza que supone Darkseid, sino que debe impedir que el poder de la energía omega caiga en manos igual de peligrosas que las del señor de Apokolips.

 

En un combate sin reglas, donde toda acción lógica empuja a sacrificarse uno mismo, quizás la clave esté en contravenir dicha lógica.
