DC K.O. se toma un descanso, al menos en lo que respecta a su vinculación con la serie contenedora Superman Unlimited, pues Panini Cómics nos presenta un cuaderno que incluye dos entregas de Supuerman Unlimited de Dan Slott y una del Action Comics de Mark Waid. Para saber cómo le va al Súper de Joshua Williamson tendremos que esperar hasta el próximo número.

 

«Esto me pasa por tener seguridad extra«

 

Aparcada la gran saga que copa la actualidad deceíta en España, nos quedan dos cabeceras cuyas aventuras tienen un carácter mucho más terrenal, en sintonía con lo que nos vienen ofreciendo hasta ahora sus respectivos autores en estas lides. Así, en Action Comics vemos a un joven Superboy lidiar no ya con sus recién adquiridas habilidades, sino con la responsabilidad que estas suponen.

 

Cualquiera haría lo mismo que hace Clark en determinado momento, pero Ma y Pa Kent son estrictos al respecto y consideran deshonesto que su hijo saque provecho personal de sus poderes, aunque no haga ningún mal a nadie. Podríamos debatir sobre la pertinencia de la posición de Martha y Jonathan respecto a un aspecto que alude a la misma naturaleza de su hijo. Él no eligió tener poderes. Pero aunque interesante desde un punto de vista moral, nos alejaría del porqué de Waid, que no es otro que enseñarle al crío que no se debe tomar la salida fácil, por tentadora que sea.

 

Dan Slott, por su parte, dedica el primero de sus capítulos a reimaginar el vuelo suborbital de Blue Origin (la compañía de Jeff Bezos) que llevó a la cantante Katy Perry (junto a otras figuras mediáticas norteamericanas) a la frontera entre la atmósfera de la Tierra y el espacio exterior. Con Lois Lane como protagonista de excepción, el guionista lleva su vuelo turístico a cruzar el sistema solar pero, como es evidente, las cosas se tuercen pronto. Hasta el punto de requerir incluso la participación de Guy Gardner, cuya caracterización se asemeja mucho a la de Nathan Fillion en el Superman de James Gunn. La ascendencia del cine sobre los cómics es inevitable.

 

Slott maneja una situación en apariencia menor sacando petróleo del escenario que impuso al arranque de su andadura, con la Tierra bañada en kriptonita. En circunstancias normales el propio Superman habría podido detener la amenaza que aquí tiene lugar sin siquiera despeinarse, pero las reglas han cambiado y el temor del hombre de acero sobre si será capaz de ayudar a Lois cuando la situación lo requiera, se ha acrecentado exponencialmente.

 

Por suerte, como es de esperar, todo sale bien. Porque la chicha viene en el segundo capitulo que, bajo el título de «Muérete de risa» plantea el siguiente arco de la serie. Empieza, eso sí, con un perfil bajo, escalando desde la cotidianidad de Metrópolis y con la agenda del ahora alcalde Perry White como hilo conductor del conflicto. Ese carácter urbano, de andar por casa, con un destacado componente cómico de la amenaza nos evoca irremediablemente a sus buenos tiempos como arquitecto arácnido. Quizás choque un poco este tipo de dinámicas en lides supermaneras y a la historia le falte un gancho más apetecible, pero con Slott siempre conviene esperar a ver todo el tablero de juego y no juzgar antes de tiempo.
