El sueño se ha roto. Después de que todos los fans se alegraran de la noticia de que Showtime ponía en marcha una tercera temporada de Twin Peaks, con David Lynch a los guiones y la dirección, la alegría ha durado poco. David Lynch ha anunciado en su cuenta de Twitter que dice adiós a la tercera temporada de la serie por «no llegar a un acuerdo económico para hacer el piloto como debe hacerse«. Y es que según relata en la red social, el director dice que lleva «un año y cuatro meses negociando con ellos«.
After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done.

(Después de un año y cuatro meses de negociaciones, lo dejo porque no ofrecen el suficiente dinero para hacer un guión decente y como debe hacerse)
Lo curioso es que todo parecía ya cerrado, ya que Showtime había anunciado la serie con los guiones y la dirección del director de Mulholland Drive, por lo que deja pensar que todo había sido hablado pero sin llegar a un acuerdo final con el director, quien ha decidido abandonar el proyecto, aunque eso le duela más a él que a cualquier otro:

Además, el director se ha pasado todo el fin de semana llamando a los actores que ya estaban involucrados en la tercera temporada para decirles que él no les vas a dirigir y terminar diciendo que «Twin Peaks aún está muy vivo en Showtime«:

(Este fin de semana comencé a llamar a los actores para decirles que no les iba a dirigir. Twin Peaks aún puede estar muy vivo en Showtime)
Ahora sólo falta esperar a saber que opina Showtime de todo esto y que camino toma la empresa. Bien cancelan la serie, para decepción de los fans, o buscan otro showrunner que lleve a buen puerto la serie. Pero claro, sin David Lynch por medio, la cosa no será lo mismo aunque el fuego camine con nosotros.
