«¿Cómo puede una gema mantenerlos a raya?«

 

Nos acercamos al final de la versión del Guantelete del Infinito que Gerry Duggan y Dustin Weaver han creado para las Secret Wars y ha llegado el momento de reunir todas las Gemas del Infinito y descubrir a los héroes y villanos que se enfrentarán en la batalla final por el control del poderoso artefacto que le da título a la miniserie y del que, sospechosamente, ya hemos visto una copia (¿o es éste mismo?) en la serie principal del evento.

 

En el capítulo anterior, en un giro sorprendente de los acontecimientos, los autores hacían que Thanos reiniciase la historia al controlar la gema del Tiempo. Esto ha hecho que la historia se desarrolle por un camino completamente distinto al decidir el Titán Loco unirse a los Bakian en la búsqueda de las poderosas piedras capaces de rehacer la realidad y expulsar a los invasores de su planeta. Sin embargo, ninguna alianza con Thanos está destinada a sobrevivir a los implicados y Duggan y Weaver utilizan este cuarto número para darle la vuelta a las cartas que cada uno de los protagonistas de eta historia han jugado.

 

«¡Eh, zorra! ¡No te acerques a nuestro perro!«

 

También conocemos en este capítulo a otro personaje imprescindible para la trama. Adam Warlock vuelve a Marvel para revelarse como el dirigente de una ciudad libre de los bichos que asolan el territorio de Mundo de Batalla en el que se desarrolla la miniserie. Poseedor de la gema de la Mente, verá en Thanos y los Bakian a la vez una amenaza y una promesa de mayor poder, demostrando una vez más el poder corruptor de estas piedras. Así pues, en El Guantelete del Infinito #4 asistimos al inicio de la confrontación entre los diferentes usuarios de las gemas para ver quién se hace con el poder y para qué lo usa.

 

 

Al margen de cómo llegue hasta nosotros el desenlace de esta historia, estoy contento por cómo se nos ha presentado un cómic distinto, algo alejado de la estética superheroica, pero completamente válido y repleto de referencias al universo Marvel clásico, ese mismo que ahora, tantos años después, se dispone a reiniciarse por vez primera. Weaver y Duggan han traído de vuelta al Thanos intrigante y pérfido y a las encarnaciones clásicas de algunos de los Guardianes de la Galaxia y, además, nos han presentado una historia de aventuras espaciales sin tener que salir de la Tierra (o del Mundo de Batalla, vaya). Veremos a qué nos conduce todo en el quinto y último tomo de la colección.
